Hurricane Dorian Relief Aide

This past summer, Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas and nearly wiped out the Abaco Islands, leaving thousands of people homeless and seeking food, supplies and shelter. Green Turtle Cay, in particular, experienced massive devastation. Thankfully there was no loss of life; however, most of the infrastructure was lost, leaving the population of 550 without power and running water since the storm hit.

Last month, employees from AERO Systems Engineering, Inc. and AERO BridgeWorks, Inc. came together and donated thousands of dollars, which was then company matched, bringing the total to over $35,000 for much-needed supplies and relief aid. The AERO Group coordinated with Green Turtle Cay and used the funds to purchase items specifically requested by the local populace which were not being provided through other relief channels. These items, totaling over 10,000 lbs, were then loaded on board a 75’ motor vessel and delivered to the grateful people of Green Turtle Cay by AERO Group staff.

The people of the Abaco Islands are very strong and they are working every day to rebuild their infrastructure in an attempt to get back to somewhat of a normal routine. The donations and assistance provided by AERO will help in that endeavor.
